MYRTLE BEACH -- No way Les Renne was going to let the stock market's swings get in the way of his own. It's the third year that Renne, 63, has come to Myrtle Beach to play golf. The Mount Gilead, Ohio, native is retired and says it could be worse. "I remember back in the '70s when Jimmy Carter was president," he said, waiting for his rental car at Myrtle Beach International Airport. "There was no gas, no jobs. That was a bad time. That was a scary time."
