GREENVILLE -- AFL Telecommunications LLC will expand its operations in Spartanburg County, adding $12 million in investment and generating 15 new jobs.

“This expansion will allow us to expand our fiber optic cable systems, utility components production and network servicing capabilities,” said William Nelli, controller for AFL Telecommunications. “We are pleased to move forward with this expansion at our facility in Spartanburg County, which provides us with a skilled work force and strong business environment.”

AFL Telecommunications will be expanding operations at its Duncan facility, where it has been located for almost 25 years.

“AFL Telecommunications is a leader in its industry for providing fiber optic products, engineering expertise and integrated services,” said Secretary of Commerce Joe Taylor. “It’s always great to see existing businesses choose to grow their operations here and AFL Telecommunications’ decision to expand in South Carolina is a positive reflection of the state’s business-friendly climate and skilled work force.”

“We are committed to working with businesses to help them grow and create new opportunities for residents of Spartanburg County,” said Carter Smith, executive vice president of the Economic Futures Group.

AFL Telecommunications and AFL Network Services Inc., both wholly-owned subsidiaries of America Fujikura Ltd., designs, manufactures, engineers and installs the fiber optic products and equipment for utility and communications providers. The company employs 3,000 people worldwide and has sales, manufacturing and administrative offices in the United States, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Mexico.
